Department 7.2
Radiometry with Synchrotron Radiation

Tasks

Utilisation of synchrotron radiation in the UV, EUV, VUV, and X-ray spectral range for basic and applied metrological tasks with main focus on radiometry:
  • Realisation of radiometric units by using the primary source standard BESSY II as calculable source of synchrotron radiation according to Schwinger's theory and cryogenic radiometers as primary detector standards
  • Calibration regarding radiometric measurands for dissemination of the units by transfer sources or transfer detectors
  • Characterisation and quality assurance of optical components and assembled systems from UV to X-ray, in particular for EUV lithography
  • Development and application of reference-standard-free X-ray fluorescence analysis
  • Comparative investigations into the equivalence of the realisation of radiometric units by synchrotron radiation and by radioactive standards in the X-ray spectral range
  • Operation of the storage-ring laboratory of PTB at BESSY II
  • Design and construction of the instrumentation of the Willy-Wien-Laboratory at the Metrology Light Sourcepdf
