Utilisation of synchrotron radiation in the UV, EUV, VUV, and X-ray spectral range for basic and applied metrological tasks with main focus on radiometry:

Realisation of radiometric units by using the primary source standard BESSY II as calculable source of synchrotron radiation according to Schwinger's theory and cryogenic radiometers as primary detector standards
Calibration regarding radiometric measurands for dissemination of the units by transfer sources or transfer detectors
Characterisation and quality assurance of optical components and assembled systems from UV to X-ray, in particular for EUV lithography
Development and application of reference-standard-free X-ray fluorescence analysis
Comparative investigations into the equivalence of the realisation of radiometric units by synchrotron radiation and by radioactive standards in the X-ray spectral range
Operation of the storage-ring laboratory of PTB at BESSY II
Design and construction of the instrumentation of the Willy-Wien-Laboratory at the Metrology Light Source
