X-ray Metrology with Synchrotron Radiation

Tasks

Utilisation of synchrotron radiation in the X-ray spectral range for basic and applied metrological tasks with main focus on radiometry:
  • Realisation of radiometric units by using the primary source standard BESSY II as calculable source of synchrotron radiation according to Schwinger's theory and cryogenic radiometers as primary detector standards
  • Calibration regarding radiometric measurands for dissemination of the units by transfer detectors
  • Characterisation and quality assurance of optical components and assembled systems in particular the x-ray regime
  • Investigation of nanolayers and particles applying x-ray reflectometry and small-angle scattering
  • Development and application of reference-standard-free x-ray fluorescence analysis
  • Photon diagnostics and materials research at x-ray lasers
Operation and development of scientific infrastructure and control facilities at the PTB-Campus in Berlin-Adlershof
